William John Hounsome volunteered for the Territorial Army in January 1979. He enlisted in to The Parachute Regiment and was posted to 3 Company, 10th Battalion, The Parachute Regiment.In 1983 Pte Hounsome transferred to 144 Parachute Medical Squadron RAMC (V) as a Regimental Medical Assistant (RMA) until 1986 when he left to join the Metropolitan Police.
Pte Hounsome re-enlisted in to 3 Coy, 10 PARA in 1990 for a year before transferring again to 144 PMS (V) until 2002.
He transferred to 253 Provost Company RMP (Volunteers) until 2004, when he returned to 144 PMS (V) as a section staff sergeant.
WO2 Hounsome is currently Air Ops Warrant Officer for 144 PMS (V).
