The Albemarle was a twin-engine transport aircraft developed by the British aircraft manufacturer Armstrong Whitworth. It entered service with the Royal Air Force (RAF) in 1941/42 and was originally intended to fulfil a medium bomber role.

However, the aircraft was transferred to general and specialist transport duties – including towing gliders and as a jump aircraft for paratroopers, from Sicily onwards.  Albermarles were amongst the first aircraft over Normandy in June 1944 carrying pathfinders.

The Albermarle was withdrawn from service in 1946.
